It was a rainy evening. On 16 Feb 2007.
I was driving along AYE on the first lane (fastest) at 80 km/h with a heavy drizzle.
Suddenly I saw the brake light of the yellow cab in front of my vehicle, coming to a complete stop.
I followed by jamming my brake paddle to the max immediately, but my vehicle clashed into the boot of the cab in front, and came to a stop.
Shocked by the impact, I was hoping in my heart that no one was injured. I put on the hazard light and came out of my vehicle in the drizzle to take pictures of the damage and settle with the driver of the cab. Apparently there was this biker who skid while he was riding on the first lane and the cab jammed brake to avoid him. But my vehicle was not able to stop in time.
I really want to thank God for his protection over the passengers on board my vehicle and also the pregnant mother on the cab. None of them sustained injury from the accident.
Thank You Lord!
Valuable Lessons for Drivers/Drivers-wannabe:
Keep a distance that is far enough for you to come to a complete stop at the speed you are driving.
Be alert always, ready to react to situations accordingly.
Remember that the braking distance is much more longer on wet slippery roads.
Points to take note should you be involved in an accident:
1) Come down your vehicle and check if there is any people injured. (if yes, need to make police report.)
2) Take pictures of the damages of the vehicle in front of you. (whoever bangs into anyone's butt is at fault and accountable to his damages.)
3) Exchange contact no., Name, I/C no., License plate no., take note of time and location.
4) Quickly drive away from the road, not to obstruct traffic.
5) While driving off, take note of the temperature meter on your panel, make sure the needle does not hit High. (or else the engine will get too Hot and catch fire and explosion if continue driving.)
6) Once there is an opportunity to park your vehicle safely, look at the bottom of the bonnet to check there is no leak, or drippings from the front. (that might be the coolant water from the radiator, check also any oil leak. If positive, do not attempt to drive off the vehicle.)
To end off, I would like to wish all Drivers - Safe Journey Ahead , especially during this festive season.
Be responsible, be Alert
